According to the requirements of the Ministry of Education, the preferred median age of the Graduate School’s students when receiving their doctoral degree is 32 years.

The deadline for applications is Thursday, May 31 st, 2012. The application, in free format and in duplicate (except for the short curriculum vitae and the research plan summary, four copies of which are required), must include:

  • a detailed report on granted full-time funding (time-periods and amounts received for full-time funding must be reported in detail) / full-time funding applied for but not yet granted and the current state of pending applications
  • a clear statement on the time-period (starting date and ending date) the current application for a Graduate School position concerns
  • letter of recommendation including a statement of the current progression rate of the studies and an estimate of how much time is needed to complete the studies

  • description of the current state of the candidate's research
  • name(s) of the supervisor(s).

If the candidate already belongs to another graduate school within KATAJA or has an application in progress for a graduate school position to another graduate school, he/she should tell it in the application.

The salary for the graduate school positions is based on levels of the demands level chart for teaching and research personnel in the new salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee is paid a salary component based on personal work performance which will be, at most 46% of the job-specific component. The personal work performance component is to be phased in gradually depending on the implementation stage of the new salary system.
